Petja PLAUSTAJNER, Attorney at Law

Petja Plaustajner is an attorney at the Law Office Plaustajner. After she obtained her law degree (diploma, “cum laude”) in 2002 at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana, she started working as a trainee in the Law Office Plaustajner, run by assistant professor Dr.sc. Mag. sc. Konrad Plaustajner. Law Office Plaustajner has a long tradition, specializing in commercial, civil and contract law, as well as international law, in particular international commercial arbitration. Law Office Plaustajner is also well known for advising on FIDIC Contracts. All this is the focus area of Petja’s practice.

Petja passed the bar exam in 2005 and became an attorney at law in 2007. In her practice she gained experience in civil and commercial law by representing clients before the courts, including the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights. She also holds experience in representing clients before administrative authorities. As an attorney she advises clients on investment projects undertaken under FIDIC Contracts. She has successfully represented clients in international commercial arbitration before the AAA arbitration, ICC Paris, VIAC and LAC. 

Petja has successfully completed three FIDIC online training modules: Module 1 (in 2020) – FIDIC online Training course on 1999 Red and Yellow Books with Highlights of the 2017 Second Editions; Module 2 (in 2019) – Claims and Disputes Resolution under FIDIC + Highlights of the main changes introduced by the 2017 Update of the Red & Yellow Books; and Module 5 (in 2020) – Conditions of contract for EPC / Turnkey Projects. She regularly attends other FIDIC seminars, including joint ICC FIDIC conferences on dispute resolution.

Petja’s additional education and training focuses also on arbitration law, amicable dispute resolution, negotiations and commercial law, including corporate law. In 2004-2010, she attended several seminars on European law at the European Law Academy in Trier.

Petja is also an active member of the Slovenian Bar Association. As a member of the delegation to the CCBE, Petja represented the Slovenian Bar Association for six years. In the period of 2015 – 2021 she was a member of the Board of Lawyers of the Slovenian Bar Association. 

She is active academically and has given lectures at the Faculty of Management (University of Primorska), Faculty of Law (University of Maribor) and at other various seminars with focus on international commercial arbitration, ADR and FIDIC Contracts. She regularly gives lectures at the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, which organises a seminar for obtaining a National Professional Qualification “Expert on FIDIC Contracts”. In recent years, Petja has published several articles in the field of FIDIC Contracts and Alternative Dispute Resolution. In her first years of practice she published several articles relating to traineeship and European Law.

In 2022 Petja was appointed as a new member of the Board of the Ljubljana Arbitration Centre and nominated as a delegate of the National Committee to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR.

Petja is fluent in English, German and Croatian language, and has a basic knowledge of French.
